My Baby Won't Sleep

Comfy and Cozy Sleeping: Baby Sleep Sacks

You never know if you baby is going to be a good sleeper until after it has arrived. Some babies seem to naturally be good sleeper, but others have a hard time learning to sleep on their own. Fortunately there are many different things that you can try to help your little one learn to sleep including comfy baby sleep sacks.

One thing to keep in mind when planning you baby’s sleep schedule is that much like you, the baby needs to be comfortable to sleep. There are many ways that you can help make sure that your baby will have as comfortable a night as possible.

First of all it is important to make feeding and changing a part of you baby’s before bed ritual. Because eating and being dry are primary needs for your baby having them unsatisfied is sure to make it difficult, if not impossible to get her to sleep. With a full tummy and a dry bottom relaxing for bed is a much easier proposition.

When dressing you baby for sleep make sure that she is comfortable in her sleeping clothes before placing her in a baby sleep sack. While some babies enjoy tight-fitting clothes other prefer something loose. New babies often are comforted by being tightly swaddled, but don’t be surprised if you active little one likes to stretch out. By trying different types of clothing and wrapping styles you can discover what your child likes best. If your gut tells you that she does not like an outfit you are probably right and you should try something else.

Something often not considered when trying to get a baby to sleep is that she needs to be able to breath easily. While most parents understand that wrapping a baby in a thick, heavy blanket is probably not a good idea due to the risk of suffocation, there are other aspects of ensuring easy breathing that are often neglected.

There are many allergens in the air that could affect your baby’s breathing. Fluffy blankets and toys can harbour these allergens and make breathing more difficult for your baby. It is important to keep your bay’s room clean and relatively dust-free. If you find that your little one is having difficulty breathing when asleep it is worth considering an air purifier in her room.

Sometimes when babies wake in the night they have difficulty getting back to sleep due to a wet diaper. If your baby is very sensitive and tends to not get back to sleep try routinely changing her diaper before you go to bed.

By paying close attention to your baby’s sleep habits and adjusting things according to her needs she will be more comfortable and more likely to sleep through the night. Follow your instinct and don’t be afraid to try new things. Eventually you will find the right mix for your child and she will sleep without interruption, somfy and cozy in her baby sleep sack.
